About Kinder goats
The Kinder is an American breed with a precise origin. In 1985 at Zederkamm Farm in Washington state, two Nubian does were penned with a Pygmy buck because the Nubian buck had died. The resulting kids were good enough to build a breed on.
A Kinder is that cross: Nubian and Pygmy, medium sized, and genuinely dual purpose. They milk well for their size with high butterfat, and they carry enough meat to be worth processing, which most dairy breeds do not.
They breed year round, often produce triplets or quadruplets, and are easy to handle.
The trade is the compromise being real. A Kinder gives less milk than a Nubian and less meat than a Boer, and the case for them is a smallholding that wants both from one animal rather than keeping two herds.
